Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) will open its 43rd Season with the hilarious whodunit, The 39 Steps – a mix of Alfred Hitchcock's juicy spy flick with a dash of vintage Monty Python – from September 14 to October 2, according to Nancy L. Donahue Artistic Director Courtney Sale and Executive Director Bonnie J. Butkas. 

Axis Theatre Company will present the return of Washington Square, a contemporary take on Henry James’s novel. Adapted and directed by Randy Sharp, the production features original music by Paul Carbonara, a cast of four, and is performed in the heart of Greenwich Village, a few blocks from the story’s 19th-century setting.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 51st season with the hit musical Ragtime. This sweeping and stirring musical masterpiece paints a portrait of America at the dawn of the twentieth century, interweaving the lives of three families—an African American family, a Jewish Immigrant family, and a wealthy white family—finding their places and pursuing the American Dream in a rapidly changing world. Featuring a Tony Award-winning book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Terrence McNally (Master Class, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Rink) and a Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Once on This Island, Anastasia, Seussical The Musical), this musical is based on E. Constance Macy, a veteran of numerous Indiana stages and theaters across the U.S., has been named the new artistic director of the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre. The new position is effective immediately for Macy, who has served as interim artistic director since January.

The Porters of Hellsgate have announced the world premiere of DI Lady DI, written and performed by Charlotte Munson, is set to open at the Hollywood Fringe Festival on June 5th. DI Lady DI is a one woman, coming-of-age, powerhouse, new fairytale musical. Comedic and searingly innovative, DI Lady DI eschews the fairytale glamor of the People’s Princess to illuminate her struggles in a paternalistic society and dysfunctional family.

Indiana's Discovering Broadway Inc. has revealed cast and creative team for its previously announced writers retreat for an untitled in-development musical with a book, music, and lyrics by Zack Zadek. The retreat is set for May 12-23, with a culminating concert of the material planned for May 21 at The Cabaret in Indianapolis.
