HBO NOW is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15-10/15) all month long with a new slate of Estrenos premiering throughout September, including Ruta Viva (Available 9/1), El Amor Menos Pensado (Available 9/6), Más Sabe el Diablo por Viejo (available 9/13), Septimo (AKA 7th Floor – available 9/20) and Perseguida (AKA Persecuted – available 9/27).

She Makes Me Laugh Comedy Festival returns to The Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT) October 4th through the 6th. Produced by the women of She Makes Me Laugh, the monthly comedy showcase, She Makes Me Laugh Festival highlights women and non-binary identifying performers in comedy across stand-up, improv, sketch, storytelling, characters, and podcasting, empowering performers in the New York Comedy scene and beyond. Headlining comedians include Ana Fabrega, Karen Chee, Ophira Eisenberg, Gina Brillon, Kerry Coddett, Jo Firestone, and Molly Austin. The event will also feature live podcast tapings for Bad Romance & Awkward Sex and the City.

HBO Latino in partnership with the New York Latino Film Festival (NYLFF), the nation's premier Latino film festival, are excited to launch the “Latinos Stand-Up” competition in search of the best Latino stand-up comedians around the country. The competition is designed to support emerging talent and increase awareness and representation of Latino voices in the comedy industry. The top five comedians will perform, and one winner will be chosen at a live event on Friday, August 16th at the New York Latino Film Festival. The event will be hosted by actress, comedian and writer Gina Brillón. 'I'm excited to partner with NYLFF and HBO Latino in supporting our culture! As Latinos we love to laugh and make others laugh,” said Gina. “When I was 17, I got my first break at a local stand-up comedy contest and haven't looked back since. I encourage everyone to enter and take advantage of this great opportunity to represent Latin comedic talent.'

From vacation preferences to sexual preferences, and 'how-to's' on topics like dating while broke, arguing while driving, and dressing for the gym, these comics cover what fires them up. This extended English-language special will also be available on HBO NOW®, HBO GO®, HBO On Demand® and partners' streaming platforms. SF Sketchfest was founded in 2001 by David Owen, Cole Stratton, and Janet Varney as a way to showcase the talents of six Bay Area sketch comedy groups: The Fresh Robots, Kasper Hauser, The Meehan Brothers, Please Leave the Bronx, Totally False People, and White Noise Radio Theatre. The festival debuted in January of 2002 at the Shelton Theatre in downtown San Francisco and has grown rapidly into a nationally recognized comedy festival that mixes national headliners, local favorites, and the best up-and-coming groups from throughout North America for a month of sketch, improv, stand-up, and alternative comedy. NBCUniversal Talent Infusion Programs (NBCUNI TIPS) has named comedian and musician JR De Guzman as the winner of its 13th Annual StandUp NBC nationwide search for comedians of diverse backgrounds. De Guzman has been awarded a one-year talent holding deal with NBCUniversal and a headlining spot later this month at the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) annual convention where he will perform before talent bookers from across the country. He will also headline the regional semi-finalist showcases for this year's StandUp NBC.

Broadway Video is launching a new premium comedy collective powered by Latino voices. The studio, Más Mejor, will create and distribute content targeted to the growing Latino population but will appeal to general audiences in the U.S. and beyond.
