Sundog Theatre will bring George Orwell's “1984” to life June 7, 2022. Staten Island. Sundog Theatre presents George Orwell's dystopian tale “1984”, running June 17 – June 26, 2022, at Wagner College's Stage One.

Sundog Theatre will present George Orwell's '1984', adapted by Robert Owens, Wilton E. Hall Jr., and William A. Miles Jr., June 17-26. 

Musical Cabaret dos Bichos is an adaptation of G. Orwell's novel Animal Farm. With libreto, lyrics and direction by Zé Henrique de Paula and original music and musical direction by Fernanda Maia, the language used is inspired by German cabarets, strongly referenced in Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill.

Burning Coal Theatre Company will present its production of What If If Only (US premiere) and Air (world premiere) by Caryl Churchill, directed by Ana Radulescu, June 9 - 26, 2022.  This production, directed by Burning Coal’s Associate Artistic Director, will be performed at Burning Coal’s home, the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC 27604.

Radial Theater Project's production of George Orwell's 1984, adapted for the stage by Michael Gene Sullivan, reopens on March 10 2022 at 18th & Union in Seattle, WA. The production is directed by Radial Theater Project producing director and 18th & Union co-founder David Gassner, and will be performed to both in-person and live streaming audiences.

Jonathan Larkin's Cherry Jezebel will make its full stage debut at the Everyman from 8-26 March 2022, following the production's sold out run of rehearsed readings in 2021. A frank and hilarious piece of new writing from regular Hollyoaks writer and long-time Everyman collaborator, the production is directed by James Baker (Jerry Springer – The Opera, YANK! The Musical).

One of the songs from the project, 'Pura Vida', particularly caught my attention. It is about environmental preservation and nature. Pura Vida literally means 'pure life', but in Costa Rica it's like a motto; it's an expression used in almost every conversation. It means that everything is fine, but it can also mean thank you. When I first listened to the song I wondered if Jonathan Larson had ever been to Costa Rica. How did he come up with the phrase?
