The York Theatre Company continues the 2013-2014 season with the world premiere of the new musical, Inventing Mary Martin, conceived, written and directed by Stephen Cole, with music supervision and arrangements by David Krane, music direction by Lawrence Goldberg, co-directed and choreographed by Bob Richard, and original music and lyrics by legendary composers Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein, Vernon Duke & Howard Dietz, Kurt Weill & Ogden Nash, No£l Coward, Irving Berlin, Jule Styne & Carolyn Leigh, Howard Dietz & Arthur Schwartz, and Tom Jones & Harvey Schmidt, among others. Great Performances presents a look at the British invasion 50 years after both the Dave Clark Five and the Beatles hit our shores. The Dave Clark Five and Beyond Glad All Over features newly filmed interviews with Tom Hanks, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt of The E Street Band, Stevie Wonder, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Gene Simmons of Kiss, Whoopi Goldberg, Dionne Warwick, '60s fashion icon Twiggy and Sir Ian McKellen, all sharing their memories of how the music of the 60s and the cultural revolution of 1964 changed their lives forever.

The New York City Center Encores! production of Frank Loesser's The Most Happy Fella concluded its limited run last night, April 6. Starring Laura Benanti, Shuler Hensley, Cheyenne Jackson,Heidi Blickenstaff, Brian Cali, Bradley Dean, Zachary James, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Jessica Molaskey and Kevin Vortmann, The Most Happy Fella was directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, with music direction by Rob Berman. Yesterday, April 4, 2014, The New York Pops continued its 31st season at Carnegie Hall with Lights, Camera, Action: A Night in Hollywood, featuring the orchestra and Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA, to travel through Hollywood history with the music that has transformed film's most iconic scenes into unforgettable moments of passion, fear, love, and hope for generations. The program included a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, a tribute to the movie music of Marvin Hamlisch, selections from Ben-Hur by Miklos Rozsa, and selections from The Mission by Ennio Morricone. Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC), dedicated to advancing the art and business of live entertainment, held their 28th Annual MAC Awards celebration last evening at BB King's Blues club in Times Square. Winners in twenty-five categories were announced. The show was hosted by the vivacious singer, band leader, multiple MAC Award winner and 2014 Nominee, Terese Genecco. The gala was produced by Julie Miller and directed by Lennie Watts, the current MAC President. Don Rebic served as Musical Director. Presenters included Will Friedwald of the Wall Street Journal and designer Bob Mackie. CLICK HERE for a full list of winners.

In collaboration with the NYC Department of Education's Borough-Wide Band and Orchestra program, KIDS ON STAGE allows middleschool students the opportunity to experience the professional performance process from the first audition to the final note. Gingold Theatrical Group, under the leadership of David Staller, honored philanthropist Anita Jaffe and playwright/actor Charles Busch at its Annual Golden Shamrock Gala, earlier this week at Manhattan Penthouse (80 Fifth Ave at 14th Street). The GTG Golden Shamrock Award is given annually for artistic contribution to society. Past honorees include Terrence McNally, Judith Ivey, Brian Murray, and Robert Osborne.
