Lake Como, Northern Italy, 1944. Partisan Sordi (Fellini’s THE WHITE SHIEK and I VITELLONI, etc.), on the run from the Germans, is sheltered, nursed and romanced in an abandoned mill by local innkeeper’s daughter Massari (L’AVVENTURA, MURMUR OF THE HEART, CHRIST STOPPED AT EBOLI), whisking her to Rome after the war to share his shabby flat.

Irina Maleeva (The Merchant of Venice) is set to recur on the show, along with Christopher Stanley (Mad Men), W Earl Brown (The Book of Boba Fett), and Josh Pais (The Dropout), while James Remar (Yellowstone), Paul Ben-Victor (Pam & Tommy) and Hilda Boulware (Modern Family) are set for guest-starring roles.

Considered one of the greatest films ever made, The Rules of the Game (La règle du jeu), by Jean Renoir, is a scathing critique of corrupt French society cloaked in a comedy of manners in which a weekend at a marquis’ country château lays bare some ugly truths about a group of haut bourgeois acquaintances.

A gothic musical inspired by horror films from the 1960s and 1970s is the plot for the show Bosque dos Sonambulos (Sleepwalkers' Forest), which opens at Teatro Pequeno Ato. With libretto and direction by Matheus Marchetti and original compositions by Vitor Mascarenhas, the play embarks on a queer gothic fantasy told in songs.

Olivier award-winning, genre-defining, and world-renowned cabaret, La Clique is opening this week on London's glittering West End.

On Saturday, November 12th at 8 pm, ten-time Academy Award-winning masterpiece, The Godfather, will be screened and performed with a 61-piece orchestra in celebration of the iconic film's 50th anniversary, produced by CineConcerts and presented by Massimo Gallotta Productions.

The show has lyrics and music by Zeca Baleiro and Newton Moreno, with musical direction by Marco França and features Cassio Scapin as the corrupt and demagogue Odorico Paraguacu, candidate for mayor of Sucupira. As there is no cemetery in the city, which forces residents to bury their dead in neighboring municipalities, the politician is elected with the slogan “Vote for a serious man and win a cemetery”!

The film is written and directed by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch. It is produced by Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Gangarossa for Wildside, a Fremantle Company, co-produced with Belgium’s Rufus and Menuetto, France Pyramide Pictures and Vision Distribution and produced in collaboration with the U.K.’s Elastic and with Sky.

New York-based cabaret artist Helane Blumfield and Florida-based Maestro Bobby Peaco didn't let a thousand (ish) miles stand in the way of making a great cabaret show, as they demonstrated last week with ME AND BOBBY PEACO.

New Line Theatre, “the bad boy of musical theatre,” has announced its 31st season of adult, alternative musical theatre, including the wild musical comedy SOMETHING ROTTEN, running Sept. 22-Oct. 15, 2022; followed by the electrifying concept musical, NINE, based on Federico Fellini's iconic film 8 1/2, running March 2-25, 2023; and the season closes with one of the great Stephen Sondheim's earliest works, the hilarious farce, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, based on the Roman comedies of Plautus, running June 1-24, 2023.

Why Is We Americans? is set to be released on DVD and for digital purchase on April 12th for $24.95. The movie is executive produced by Ms. Lauryn Hill and Oscar®-nominated writer and filmmaker, Oren Moverman (The Messenger). This 2022 theatrical release arrives on DVD loaded with extras, including Q&A’s, deleted scenes, and more. The movie originally opened on January 14th at the IFC Center in NYC. The series will be presented entirely in person at MoMA's Debra and Leon Black Family Film Center in the Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters from December 1, 2021, through January 12, 2022.
