The Gilmore-Hoerner Endowment will present a special, one day only concert, 'A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald' featuring the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg, PA.  Tickets for the event are $12 each, all seats reserved, are currently on sale at the Capitol Theatre at 717-263-0202 or online at www.thecapitoltheatre.org .  The Box Office is open from 11:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. Monday thru Friday and one hour prior to show. The theatre is located at 159 S. Main Street in Chambersburg, PA.

The Music Center, L.A.'s performing arts destination, welcomes Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater on March 8 - 12, 2017 as part of the Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center 2016-2017 season at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2016-17 season on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 8pm with GRAMMY® Award-winning jazz singer Patti Austin performing Ella Now and Then: A Centennial Celebration of the First Lady of Song. This tribute concert marks the 100th birthday of the great Ella Fitzgerald (born April 25, 1917) and will feature selections from Ms. Austin's 2002 album For Ella, including timeless standards such as 'How High the Moon,' 'Too Close for Comfort,' and 'The Man I Love.'Tickets range from $36 to $55 and can be purchased at BrooklynCenter.org or by calling 718-951-4500 (Tue-Sat, 1pm-6pm).

In honor of Jazz Appreciation Month and to mark the centennial of Ella Fitzgerald's birth, the Philly POPS will celebrate the First Lady of Song's musical legacy with her frequent collaborator Louis Armstrong in a swinging lineup of their biggest solo hits and duets. Master jazz trumpeter Byron Stripling and R&B sensation Marva Hicks join the POPS for Ella, Louis & All That Jazz March 31-April 2, 2017 at the Kimmel Center.

Some of the biggest names on the jazz circuit-including Miller audience favorites Warren Wolf and Miguel Zenon-come together to form the inimitable collective SFJAZZ. This touring program celebrates one of the genre's greats: Miles Davis. The band's explorations of this rich repertoire make it feel fresh once more, as revelatory and innovative as it sounded when Miles issued his first records back in the 1940s and 50s. 

LiveConnections continues their exciting season of string innovations on Tuesday, April 18 when legendary bassist John Patitucci teams up with the acclaimed Daedalus Quartet, currently in-residence at the University of Pennsylvania, for a one-night concert that will cross a wide variety of genres. Commissioned by LiveConnections, Patitucci will be writing new music for string quintet (the Quartet plus himself), as part of a program fusing jazz and classical styles. The 7:30PM show will take place at Philadelphia's World Cafe Live (3025 Walnut Street).

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts announced today its second class of Emerging Artists, recognizing diverse talents, from a visionary filmmaker to world-class musicians to a singer-songwriter currently starring on Broadway.

March brings a new collection of outstanding artists in jazz for its Special Engagement Series.  In addition to its weekly shows featuring emerging and veteran jazz artists every Friday and Saturday nights, Jam sessions on Sunday evenings and packed First Fridays, the top names in jazz are arriving to perform at the noted jazz club in downtown Phoenix.

On Saturday, May 6th, McCarter Theatre Center will host its 40th annual Gala Benefit, which supports McCarter's many ongoing artistic and educational missions here in Princeton and around the region. Steven Chera returns LIVE! at the Zinc Bar with some old classics with a fresh, NEW, jazzy sound of tunes from his most recent album, The Classic Standards - Volume 1. Known for performing American songbook classics while adding his crooner touch, Chera has captivated audiences nationwide for almost two decades.

The winners of the 46th annual George London Foundation Awards Competition for young American and Canadian opera singers were announced at the conclusion of the competition's final round this evening, which took place in a front of an audience at Gilder Lehrman Hall at The Morgan Library & Museum in New York City. 

A founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) announces its 2017-2018 Season. From September 2017 through May 2018, the Chamber Orchestra will perform six programs as part of its subscription series.
