Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), will host a One-on-One conversation entitled "State of the Art: Directing Shakespeare in America," moderated by Ethan McSweeny (Artistic Director of American Shakespeare Center), with luminary directors Erica Schmidt and Davis McCallum, on Monday, April 8, from 6:00-8:00PM at Sunlight Studios, 321 W. 44th Street, 2nd Floor, Studio D. The One-on-One series of conversations, presented by SDCF, features prominent artists offering rare insights into the creative process and personal experience of forging an artistic career.

Five-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb (Maria Striar, Producing Artistic Director; Michael Bulger, Associate Artistic Director; Quinn Metal Corbin, Advancement Director) is proud to announce the line-up for SUMMERWORKS, its annual series of new plays. Now in its 24th season, SUMMERWORKS will run May 17 through June 29 at The Wild Project (195 E 3rd Street) in Manhattan, and will feature productions of three new plays: LUNCH BUNCH by Sarah Einspanier and directed by Tara Ahmadinejad; YOU NEVER TOUCHED THE DIRT by Zhu Yi and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll; and KING PHILIP'S HEAD IS STILL ON THAT PIKE JUST DOWN THE ROAD by Daniel Glenn and directed by Caitlin Ryan O'Connell.

Five-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb (Maria Striar, Producing Artistic Director; Michael Bulger, Associate Artistic Director; Quinn Metal Corbin, Advancement Director) is proud to announce the return of Will Arbery's PLANO, directed by Taylor Reynolds. First seen last year in the 23rd SUMMERWORKS season, PLANO returns beginning April 8 for a limited engagement through May 11. The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks) has announced casting for DirectorFest 2019: The 35th Annual Directors Festival, the only festival in the United States exploring the art of contemporary stage directing. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the line-up for performers and post-show facilitators for NEW SONGS NOW, an unplugged concert series taking place July 22 through July 26 at 7:00pm at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.

In her third production at JACK, playwright Amina Henry shares a ghost story (with songs) about a homeless man who is approached in the park by the ghost of a murdered prostitute.  The ghost enlists him on a quest to find her remains so that her grieving mother can finally bury her and move past her mourning. Hunter John and Jane approaches trauma, mental illness and violence towards women in a whimsical way, giving the audience the opportunity to engage with difficult topics through poetic language as well as through a rich musical and visual landscape. With this work, Henry re-imagines what a love story can be, re-imagines what a musical can be, and proposes a world in which all lost or missing individuals are worthy of being found.
