From London's National Theatre on Sunday, February 15, at 3:30 p.m. comes family entertainment -- Treasure Island, which is suitable for 10+ years. From the Met on Sunday, February 22, at 12 p.m., Tchaikovsky's Iolanta and Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle will enchant. Skylight starring Carey Mulligan and Stephen Daldry, will be screened on Wednesday, February 25, at 6 p.m. Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee James Franco and Tony Award nominee Chris O'Dowd star in the hit Broadway production Of Mice And Men, Sunday, March 8, at 12 noon, filmed on stage by National Theatre Live. The 2015 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting opens its 10th anniversary competition today. Writers of all levels of experience are invited to enter plays, which must be original, unperformed and unproduced. The winner will receive a prize of 16,000 and a full production of their play at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. The competition is a unique partnership between the Royal Exchange Theatre and property company Bruntwood. (more...)

The best of live theatre can now be experienced on the big screen of The Ware Center. The theatrical productions Of Mice and Men on Broadway and London's Treasure Island kick off the partnership with the National Theatre's groundbreaking project National Theatre Live, which films and broadcasts live stage productions in filmic quality and detail. The only place in Lancaster County showing these productions is Steinman Hall at The Ware Center, located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster. More films will be added in the Spring. (more...)

Manhattan Theatre Club announces the upcoming Sloan Panel Discussion on Constellations, which will be held following the Thursday, January 15 performance of the play at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street), and is open to anyone attending the evening's performance. The panel, which will be presented in partnership with the World Science Festival, will focus on the role of science in the play and will feature playwright Nick Payne and Brian Greene, professor of Physics and Mathematics at Columbia University and co-founder of the World Science Festival. St. Ann's Warehouse has announced the cast of the upcoming American Premiere of the National Theatre of Scotland's Let the Right One In, adapted by Jack Thorne from John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel and screenplay, and helmed by Director John Tiffany and Associate Director/Movement Steven Hoggett. Rebecca Benson will return to the role of the vampire girl next door, which she originated in Dundee and then played at the Royal Court and on the West End to critical acclaim.
