After spearheading the artistic vision and organizational growth of Philadelphia Theatre Company for thirty-five years, Executive Producing Director Sara Garonzik announced to the PTC Board of Directors that she will be leaving her position sometime during the 2016-2017 season when her successor joins the Company. She will remain in Philadelphia to pursue consulting and independent producing projects. (more...)

Just announced, Second Stage Theatre's New York Premiere production of NOTES FROM THE FIELD: DOING TIME IN EDUCATION, the latest work created, written and performed by groundbreaking theatre artist Anna Deavere Smith with music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby and directed by Leonard Foglia, will open on November 2, 2016 at the Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd Street). THE SHIPMENT, which took New York by storm in 2009 caused Time Out New York to call her "one of the best experimental playwrights in America." Chestnut) November 11, 2016 through January 8, 2017, after playing to sold-out houses during the 2015 holiday season. In anticipation of Pride Week, Thank You For Coming Out (TYFCO) is teaming up with Fun Home to hold an improv workshop benefiting the organizations I'm From Driftwood and How We G.L.O.W. Each of the four groups amplify the LGBTQ voice in a different way and aim to promote an understanding among communities. This workshop will encourage empathy, inclusivity and acceptance within the LGBTQ community by using and teaching the ideals of improv - listening, trust, respect, affirmation and connection with each other through the principle of Yes, And. TYFCO and Fun Home's main goal is that both I'm From Driftwood and How We G.L.O.W. can take what they learned back to their organizations and continue to inspire others. (more...)
