Narratively, the story isn’t anything revolutionary, but Burns’s approach is rich with emotional intelligence and clinical precision. She takes on a crumbling, unfeeling practice ruled by waiting lists and a scorecard, exploring how destructive a lack of (financial, yes, but also psychological) support can be for those for whom support is a profession. It’s a striking debut.

Papatango today announce the extension of their critically-acclaimed production Shook by Samuel Bailey. The 2019 Papatango New Writing Prize-winner, which was due to transfer to the West End when the pandemic hit, was filmed and made available to stream at the beginning of this month.

Josef Davies is an actor known for his roles on stage in Bent (National Theatre) and on-screen in Chernobyl and Call the Midwife. We spoke to Davies about his role in Samuel Bailey’s Shook, which is now available to view online as a film following a critically acclaimed run at the Southwark Playhouse in 2019.
