An octopus named Akashi could donate one of his three hearts to bring about what would hopefully be a more evolved and sensitive human. But Akashi isn't sure he wants to do that - he finds life to be better without humans.

Asheville Creative Arts (ACA), Asheville's professional children's theatre, completes its 7th season with CHARLOTTE'S WEB. Adapted by Joseph Robinette from the beloved children's book by E.B. White, this production is directed by Abby Felder, features original folk music from Jonesalee (Gina Stewart and Brenda Gambill), puppets, costumes and sets by Edwin Salas Acosta, musical direction by Kylie Irvin, choreography by Isabelle Bowser, dramaturgey by Alex Smith, lights by Jason Williams with outreach from ACA's Community Development Director, Daniele Martin, and production and marketing support from Brook Bresnan. CHARLOTTE'S WEB will run at Magnetic 375 (375 Depot Street) from July 18-28, with public performances Fridays at 7, Saturdays at 4 (with all tickets pay-what-you-wish), and Sundays at 1pm (tickets to Friday and Sunday performances $12 for students and $23 for adults). Asheville Creative Arts (ACA), Asheville's professional children's theatre, continues in its 7th season to build on the successful mounting of its first world premiere, BUGS!, to present a second world premiere, LINTHEAD, as well as a new take on the family classic, CHARLOTTE'S WEB. Its mobile unit, which launched last season with the touring puppet musical, SLUG & SNAIL, will grow to include the touring version of BUGS!, and the company will offer expanded educational opportunities with both spring after-school classes and 2 sessions of summer camp. Pioneers Go East Collective will present the World Premiere of American Mill No. 2, a new music-theatre and documentary work written and directed by Gian Marco Lo Forte, with music by Kamala Sankaram, and choreography by Maura Nguyen Donohue. The production, which is devised, performed and written by the Pioneers Go East Collective will begin on March 30, 2017, and run through April 9, 2017 at A.R.T./NY Theatres (502 West 53rd Street at 10th Avenue) as a limited engagement.
