The Annie Russell Theatre at Rollins College continues its 83rd season with Expecting Isabel, a contemporary comedy about a middle-aged couple's journey to parenthood. Miranda and Nick serve as candid narrators, chronicling their odyssey from the bedroom, to infertility clinics, to adoption agencies. We encounter a host of quirky characters as their very private struggle becomes public.

Isabel is written by actress, stand-up comedian, and playwright Lisa Loomer. Last year, Loomer became a two-time winner of the Jane Chambers Playwriting Award, which recognizes plays created by women that present a feminist perspective and contain significant opportunities for female performers. This marks the first time the honor has been presented twice to the same writer.

The production stars Rachel Comeau '16, who was recognized by Broadway World Orlando as a 2015 Editor's Choice for Outstanding Performance for her work in Rollins' production of Machinal. Director David Charles is at the helm. "I am of the generation that has been told 'we can have it all," reflects Charles. "We put starting a family on hold as matters of career and creature comforts take preeminence. This delightfully honest play is about what happens to a couple's marriage, their finances, even their bodies, as they navigate the reality of having waited too long."

Expecting Isabel opens on February 12th and runs through February 20th. Tickets are $20, with discounts available for students and seniors. A ticket to opening night includes admission to a reception immediately following the show - butlered champagne service, live music, and themed treats from Paris Bistro on Park Avenue.
