Pauline Oliveros and More to Take Part in Post-Show Panels After THE OTHER MOZART at HERE, Now thru 7/6
Little Matchstick Factory has announced a series of post-show panels and discussions that take place after performances of THE OTHER MOZART, currently running at HERE (145 6th Avenue, one block south of Spring).
THE OTHER MOZART gives voice to Nannerl Mozart, Amadeus's sister, whose own musical accomplishments were eclipsed by her brother. A keyboard virtuoso and composer, Nannerl faded from history, leaving nothing behind. Featuring music by Nathan Davis and Phyllis Chen (members of the International Contemporary Ensemble, currently in residence at the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center) THE OTHER MOZART brings this forgotten musical prodigy to life.
The panel discussions examine the loss of Narnnerl's work while also discussing the current challenges faced by women in creative fields.
Each discussion takes place immediate following the performance:
"Women in Film" with Naomi McDougall Jones (actor/writer/producer), Caitlin Gold (actor/producer), Stacie Capone (actor), Meghan Scibona (writer/director/producer), and Heather Taylor (writer and filmmaker)
"Women Composers" with Phyllis Chen (pianist and composer, member of International Contemporary Ensemble), Du Yun (composer, multi-instrumentalist and performance artist), and Suzanne Farrin (composer)
"Women in Monodrama" with Danusia Trevino (actor/playwright), Valerie Hager (actor), Stacey Robinson (actor) and Sylvia Milo (actor/playwright The Other Mozart)
"Women in Film" with Meredith Edwards (actor/director), Joanna Bowzer (producer/writer/director), Heidi Russell (photographer/founder International Women Artists' Salon) and Beanie Barnes (producer Lord of Dogtown/the first woman to take the football field with the University of Nebraska)
