Winner of the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival's Overall Excellence Award for a Solo Show, Faye Lane's Beauty Shop Stories recently won two prestigious performance awards, the 2011 MAC Award for Special Production and the 2011 Bistro Award for Musical Comedy. The show, which has been in residence since September 2010, has been extended at the Huron Club at The Soho Playhouse through Labor Day weekend. Performances will take place Sundays at 5pm at the Huron Club, 115 Vandam Street, ending on September 4, 2011. Directed by MAC Award winner, Jay Rogers, Faye Lane's Beauty Shop Stories features music written by Keith Thompson, Larry Rosen and Carol Hall (music and lyrics for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas).

Faye Lane's unique blending of story and song led New York Magazine to say "She had them gobbling from the palm of her hand... they were howling, crying, falling in love with her." Faye Lane's Beauty Shop Stories is a funny, sweet, upbeat and inspiring chronicle of Faye's childhood in her mama's beauty shop in Texas told through poignant story and stirring song. As a fat little girl sitting on the front porch in a glittered-up Burger King crown with a MoonPie in her hand, she dreamed of telling stories and singing songs on the stage in New York City. It's the glitter-up memories of a Texas Green Bean Queen.

Faye Lane is one of New York's most beloved and respected storytellers. Stories and songs from Faye Lane's Beauty Shop Stories have been presented at Caroline's on Broadway, Comix, The Nuyorican Poet's Cafe, The Pulse Theater, Stage Left, Cornelia Street Cafe, The Time Out New York Lounge, 92nd Street Y Tribeca, and Joe's Pub at The Public Theater as well as at The Improv in Washington DC, The Jewel Box Theater in Seattle, The Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon, L'Etage in Philadelphia, the Victoria Event Center in Victoria, BC, and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she received a glowing four star review from The Scotsman. A winner of the Moth Story Slam in both New York and LA, she can be heard on NPR's Cityscapes and The Moth Radio Hour.

Director Jay Rogers is a four-time MAC Award winner and Drama Desk Award nominee for Howard Crabtree's When Pigs Fly.

Faye Lane's Beauty Shop Stories plays Sundays at 5 p.m. through September 4. The runtime is 75 minutes without an intermission.

The Soho Playhouse is located at 15 Vandam Street, Soho, New York City, between 6th Avenue and Varick Street (7th Avenue). Take the C or E train to Spring Street or the 1 train to Houston Street.

Press nights are for all performances.
