All-Female Creative Team Behind Everyday Inferno's NY Premiere of GLASSHEART

Everyday Inferno Theatre Company, in association with Access Theater, has announced the all-female creative team assembled for the New York premiere of Glassheart, which will play a limited run at The Access Theater this October.

Written by Reina Hardy, directed by Anais Koivisto, and produced by Katherine Sommer, the production will feature sound design and music composed by Sam Kaseta, set design by Caitlyn Barrett, and lighting by Ali Hall.

Beauty never showed up. Centuries after the curse, the Beast and his last remaining magical servant are holed up in a ramshackle apartment, managed by a mysterious landlady with a suspicious taste for gingerbread. When an eligible maiden moves in next door, "happily ever after" feels agonizingly within reach, but we all know that in fairytales, nothing is exactly as it seems. Full of humor, magic, and belief in the life-altering power of love, Glassheart is a witty and decidedly adult take on a classic tale that explores the space between light and dark, and the sacrifices we make in search of an ordinary life.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

REINA HARDY (Playwright) is a playwright. Her plays, which usually contain magic and sometimes contain science, have been seen across the country, including at Rorschach Theatre in DC, the Vortex in Austin, and the 2013 NNPN National New Play Showcase. She's a Michener Fellow, winner of the 2014 KCACTF TYA Prize, finalist for the Terrence McNally Prize and the recipient of an Interact 20/20 Commission.

ANAÏS KOIVISTO (Director) is an NY-based freelance director, and the Artistic Director of Everyday Inferno Theatre Company. She has directed for Pipeline Theatre Company, FringeAL FRESCO, Match:Lit, Seiche Productions, Spicy Witch Productions, the FRIGID Festival (Hangover Encore selection in the 2014 and 2015 festivals), Looking Glass Theatre, 3V, CORE Artists' Ensemble, and is currently in residence at The Access Theater working on the development of Regina Robbins' Quicksand. Anaïs holds a BFA from Boston University and has studied at LAMDA and ACT, is a New York Affiliate member of Seiche Productions, and has served as a member of (Re:) Directions Theatre Company and the Theatre Artists' Conspiracy. www.anaiskoivisto.com

CAITLynn Barrett (Set Designer) is excited to be joining the Everyday Inferno team for the first time with Glassheart. Caitlynn has her B.A. in Theatre Arts from the State University of New York at New Paltz. There she designed Oklahoma! & a collection of one-act plays named Surreality: An Evening of Sh*t That May Be Deep. She has recently designed Joseph & the Amazing... at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse in Bigfork, MT & The Whipping Man at Shadowland Stages in Ellenville, NY. She is currently working on the designs for the premiere of the new musical LoveCourt with Isle of Shoals Productions Inc. in Manhattan, Constellations with Tangent Theatre Company in Tivoli, NY, and Chess with The Gallery Players in Brooklyn. Caitlynn enjoys sketching at museums, zip lining, road trips, and Irish folk music.

ALI HALL (Lighting Designer) is a Brooklyn based artist working in the fields of performance art, theatre, and opera. Upcoming and recent designs include the world premiere of the experimental opera Stranger of Paradise (Opera Omaha/GPTC), the world premiere of Save the World! (The Anthropologists/The Ice Factory), Iceman Cometh, Act IV (Target Margin Lab), Material Witness (Spiderwowman Theater), and Now We Start From the Arm (Spotted Deer Productions). In addition to her own designs and performance art work, Ali works as an Assistant Lighting Designer, a teaching artist for Town Hall and the Resident Lighting Designer for York College. Additionally, Ali was invited to attend the Great Plains Theatre Conference as a member of the Design Wing in 2015 and 2017.

SAM KASETA (Music Composition / Sound Design) is a composer, writer, and sound designer from Hartford, CT. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music in concert composition at NYU Steinhardt, after graduating from Princeton in 2015. You can catch her opera and music theater at The Tank NYC and her singing with choral music collective C4.

KATHERINE SOMMER (Producer) is a New York-based producer and director, a Skidmore College graduate, and the Producing Director of Everyday Inferno Theatre Company. With Everyday Inferno, Katherine has directed and produced several world premieres, including The Turn of the Screw at the historic Morris-Jumel Mansion, A Map to Somewhere Else, Something Wicked and Heart of Oak (Hangover Encore selections in the 2014 and 2015 FRIGID New York festivals). Katherine has served on the board of Tomfoolery Theatre (NJ), and has directed several short plays at the Looking Glass Theater (NY).

EVERYDAY INFERNO THEATRE COMPANY creates adventurous theatrical productions of new or rarely produced texts that tell women's stories in a unique, entertaining, and accessible manner. We exceed the limitations of low-budget theatre by exploring nontraditional spaces, stagecraft, and storytelling. We are committed to developing a diverse audience by producing work that is large in scope while keeping our production costs (and ticket prices) at a minimum. Through our work, we prove that stories focused on women can be universally enjoyable and relatable.

* In a continued effort to expand the accessibility of its programming, Everyday Inferno is introducing a tiered ticketing initiative for this production. For each performance, five $5 tickets, ten $10 tickets, and fifteen $15 tickets will be available for purchase on a first come, first served basis.
