Algonquin Seaport Theater Productions presents "Art of Love", a new musical revue by Al Tapper at its new space on the South Street Seaport, June 26th, 7pm. Directed by David Flora, with musical direction by Larry Nachsin, featuring Kelli Maguire and Robert Vest, the show will play for one performance prior to a possible Off Broadway run.
"Art of Love" tells the tale of two people who meet at an art gallery, become attracted to each other, and suffer through a series of misunderstandings before finally coming together. The story is told entirely through the songs of Al Tapper and features as a backdrop the breathtaking view of the Brooklyn Bridge.Tapper is best known for the musical "Sessions", which ran for more than three hundred performances Off Broadway between 2008 and 2010. The show subsequently had a successful run in Guadalajara, Mexico and is scheduled to perform in Mexico City. He also wrote the music and lyrics for "National Pastime", just produced at the Keegan Theatre in Washington, D.C. as well as "An Evening At The Carlyle", "David" and "Imperfect Chemistry".David Flora is currently the Program Director for The Sunday Series at Abingdon at Abingdon Theatre, NY. He has directed and conceived numerous musical revues for them including "IT'S THE TALK OF THE TOWN, the music of Jerry Livingston."
