New York Musical Festival presents THE LIGHT RAIL, with book by Chelsea Hickman, and music & lyrics by Kira Stone, at The Green Room 42 at Yotel, running July 23 - July 24.

About the show: Stinging from old and recent loss, childhood neighbors Sam and Lindsay reunite by chance on Seattle's light rail. As they begin to fall in love, they slowly learn that healing can be found in the most unusual places, and in other people just as broken as themselves. In this original contemporary musical by Kira Stone, innovative movement and music combine to depict the realities of people living with mental illness, and the power we all have to live imperfectly and beautifully.

The cast of The Light Rail includes Kira Stone as Lindsay, Tyler Hatch as Sam, Timothy Aaron Cooper as Jamie, Carolyn Keller as Mallory, and Lizzie Wilkins and Jonathan Savage as Ensemble. Noah Platte is Lighting Designer, and Drew Nichols is Music Director.

Performances run Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 7:00PM; Monday, July 24, 2017 at 2:00PM; and Monday, July 24, 2017 at 7:00PM. All shows take place at The Green Room 42 @ Yotel, 570 10th Ave, New York, NY 10036. Tickets: Individual OR with NYMF Pass. Individual tickets go on sale June 15. The New York Musical Festival nurtures the creation, production, and public presentation of stylistically, thematically, and culturally diverse new musicals to ensure the future vitality of musical theater.

Like any great art form, musical theater is shaped by the events and philosophies of the day. The strength and vitality of musical theater lie in its ability to stay fresh and relevant. It was with that idea in mind, 13 years ago, that the New York Musical Festival (NYMF) was created - to provide an effective platform to introduce new shows, new perspectives, and new blood into the musical theater canon.

The first Festival, staged in 2004, featured over thirty new fully staged full-length musicals and was met with critical and popular acclaim. More than 400 shows have premiered at the Festival since then, featuring more than 8,000 artists and entertaining more than 300,000 audience members. The musicals and artists introduced at NYMF have, in turn, gone on to further successes on and Off-Broadway, across the country, and around the globe - reaching literally millions of theatergoers worldwide.

NYMF was honored with a 2013 Drama Desk Award recognizing its first decade of creating and nurturing new musical theater, ensuring the future of this essential art form.
