Peter Eötvös ?s new opera Senza Sangue raccounts the final pages of an eloquent short story by Alessandro Barrico. During the Spanish Civil War, a child is concealed below the floor and escapes murder, but loses her beloved father. The youngest attacker, only a boy himself, catches sight of her, but leaves her undiscovered. In old age, the woman wants to find him, and to find repose.

Barto?k ?s masterpiece Bluebeard's Castle unfolds a psychodrama where the sheer power of the music unfolds emotions of terrifying depth. Judith has married Bluebeard and on entering his castle compels him to open the seven doors behind which lurk untold mystery.

Two pairs of great international singers present this double bill of operas, directed by young Danish talent, Eva-Maria Melbye: the scenarios may be small scale in terms of staging, but their impact will be profound.

Introduction both days at 18:30 by BNO's Mary Miller and composer Peter Eötvös.
