Two of the music world’s foremost performing artists, German baritone Matthias Goerne and Norway’s own piano genius Leif Ove Andsnes, interpret songs by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich and his Austrian role model, Gustav Mahler. The theme of the concert programme is an interweaving of two of the greatest enigmas of existence – life and death – which these two composers comment on thematically, each in their own complementary way.
