The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey, located in the Historic Palace Theatre on Route 183 in Netcong completes its 35th Anniversary Main Stage season with Dr. Seuss's THE CAT IN THE HAT. The show runs May 5th through May 21st with performances Fridayevenings at 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday matinees at 4:00 PM. Based on the book by Dr. Seuss and originally produced by The National Theatre of Great Britain, Dr. Seuss's THE CAT IN THE HAT was adapted and originally directed by Katie Mitchell.

Dr. Seuss's THE CAT IN THE HAT is a lively, engaging "play with sound effects" for performance by adults for young children. Not a word has been touched or added to Dr. Seuss's classic, ensuring anyone who's read the story will find themselves transported into the world they've always imagined. The Growing Stage production is directed by Lori B. Lawrence, the Netcong theatre's Director of Educational Programming.

From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat In The Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and craziest of ideas, he is certainly fun to play with. And he turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure. But what will mom find when she gets home? This production is recommended for the entire family. Dr. Seuss's THE CAT IN THE HAT is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com

Dr. Seuss's THE CAT IN THE HAT features the talents of six professional equity performers in the cast. Growing Stage favorite Davis Cameron Lemley of Cedar Grove (Peter And The Starcatcher, A Christmas Carol) portrays Cat; Donald Andrew Danford of Rockaway, last seen in The Neverending Story, portrays Fish; Marie Nicole of Toms River (Growing Stage debut) and Jason Pumarada (Growing Stage debut) of Union, portray Sally and Boy. Rounding out the cast are Alexandra Vecchio (Growing Stage debut) of Livingston as Thing 1/Kitten 1 and Najah Johnson of Newark as Thing 2/Kitten 2.

The Growing Stage continues FUN-tastic Fridays with all tickets $15! Saturday and Sunday tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $15 for children. A Special Talk-back will take place Opening Night (May 5) with the creative team following the performance. To purchase tickets, please visit www.growingstage.com or call (973) 347-4946. Group rates and Birthday Party packages are available. The Growing Stage's programs are made possible, in part, by funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and contributions from numerous corporations, foundations, and individuals.
