It all began in 2010 in a small black box theater at Montclair University. Katie McGhee and Whitney Shields were on the cusp of graduating into a world both open and uncertain for artists and theatermakers. One afternoon sitting on the campus they were about to leave, they came to the conclusion that they would create theater in a non-traditional setting. After two years of travel and individual life-experiences, they began brainstorming possible opportunities to pursue theater with a fundamental focus on farming and gardening. Thusly, The Earth Works Project was born.

The Earth Works Project is an artistic collaboration with a community brought together with one piece of land at the heart-Genesis Farm in Blairstown, NJ. This land provides food-physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually-offering a place to get your hands dirty, share meals, open up to a new perspective, to hear and be heard. The Earth Works Project is gathering the stories of these individuals and translating their words into performance, to discover what it is about this community, this place, this kind of life, that is nourishing, challenging and transformational.

The Earth Works team is hosting a Craft Beer fundraising event on Saturday, April 12th starting at 2pm on Genesis Farms. For more info, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/139507062886237/. This is a 21+ event.

Performances are set for April 25th-27th at Genesis Farm conveniently located off of Route 80.
