The Mill Ballet School, founded in 1995, is the official school of the Roxey Ballet Company. Instructors communicate with students of all ages and levels in a positive, constructive, and encouraging manner. All faculty members work closely to take each student to his or her next level.

"Magical Mornings"
June 26-August 18

Preschoolers will spend the morning working on the basic concepts of dance. As they are introduced to the basic concepts of dance, body, space, dynamics, timing, and relationships they will be encouraged to explore their creativity through movement. Children will gain an understanding that dance is a language that can be understood by all. In addition children will participate in a dance related craft or activity along with a short story time which will lend itself to dance interpretation. A truly magical morning for your preschooler!

"Junior Dance Camp"
July 10-July 21

Junior Dance Camp was created to give young creative students a chance to experience dance from learning the basic technique to performing it. All students will participate in ballet, jazz, and improvisation. During camp, students will see how their knowledge of dance technique can be used to create choreography. As their knowledge of dance grows, so does their ability to create. We will also have fun playing dance related games and enjoying picnic lunches outside. The goal of our camp is to provide a life-long memorable experience while enhancing each student's overall dance education and appreciation of the arts. At the end of each week on Friday, parents and siblings are invited to an informal performance highlighting the student's accomplishments.

"Young Dancers Workshop"
July 10-July 21

The Mill Ballet School's "The Young Dancers Workshop" has been developed specifically for young dancers ages 8-12 providing them with an introduction to more serious dance training. The goal of the workshop is to give each individual a deeper and more through understanding of their technique and the art of dance. While the maIn Focus is on classical ballet, our young dancers will be exposed to other forms of dance including jazz, improv, contemporary, and ballroom. The day will conclude with discussions in proper nutrition for a young dancers, injury prevention, anatomy, and dance history along with dance videos. At the end of each week on Friday, parents and siblings are invited to a demonstration showcasing the student's accomplishments and highlights of the week.

"Ballet Technique Intensive"
June 26-June 30

Our intensive is for students who are committed to improving their ballet technique. Students will spend the entire week building on their understanding of ballet technique through detailed instruction and the breakdown of steps. Pilates, yoga for dancers, and barre will be the start of the students day helping them find and feel the muscles needed for the proper execution of the ballet technique. Ballet classes, pre-pointe and pointe as well as specialty, body conditioning, and composition will be part of their daily schedule. In addition students will work on excerpts and variations from some of the greatest classical ballets. The goal of the intensive is to provide each student the tools and knowledge to go to their own "next level" of study.

"Choreographic Workshop"
July 31-August 18

The Mill Ballet School's Choreographic Workshop has grown to be a place where young aspiring dancers can work closely with the outstanding faculty of The Mill Ballet School and guest artists. The goal of our program is to give each individual a better insight into the art of dance. While the maIn Focus is on ballet, summer students will be exposed to other forms of dance such as modern, contemporary, ballroom and jazz. Classes in dance conditioning as well as lectures in injury prevention and nutrition, auditioning, and careers in dance will all be a part of the students day. Afternoons will be spent working closely with Mark and Melissa Roxey as well as current and guest faculty from around the country on original works, as well as the re-staging of some classics. Choreographers will work with students on providing them with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop choreography and understand the process. Students will present the choreographic works in a fully showcase at the end of the four week program. Class sizes are limited, enabling the teacher to reach every student in program.
