Kean Stage presents Bridges East and West, a collaborative concert pairing the Concert Artists of Kean University with Chinese musicians, masters of traditional instruments, from Capital Normal University tonight, April 26 at 7:30 in Enlow Recital Hall. Kean's Concert Artist faculty will perform at Kean University's Enlow Recital Hall the same evening.

Enlow Hall is located on the East Campus of Kean University at 215 North Avenue in Hillside. Tickets are $25. Call 908-737-7469 and online at www.keanstage.com.

The Concert Artists will perform a piece composed by Liduino Pitombeira, a Brazilian composer, based on an ancient Chinese philosophical concept "Five Elements;" the Chinese artists will play works for traditional instruments including the Xun, Erhu, Pipa, Sheng, and Dizi; and the concert will conclude with an exciting collaboration-ten artists sharing the stage to perform the World Premiere of a commissioned work for western string quintet and traditional Chinese instruments.

The Concert Artists are nationally and internationally renowned musicians who form a professional chamber music ensemble that performs some 10-15 concerts annually, on campus and elsewhere. Their last performances in New York included collaboration with pianist Joseph Kalichstein in Merkin Hall. Among the Concert Artists are Grammy award winners, Naumburg and other international prizewinners.

The five Chinese musicians are all renowned traditional instrument specialists who have won numerous prizes including the first Chinese National Sheng Competition, the second "Long Yin Cup" Chinese traditional instrument competition, the second "Wen Hua" Academy of Arts reward, the seventh "Golden Bell Award" for Chinese Music, the twenty-eighth "Jiang Nan Si Zhu Competition," etc. They have toured internationally and are all Professors of Music at Capital Normal University Conservatory of Music.
