On February 4 at 8:00PM, VoicePlay will take over the Union County Performing Arts Center's Main Stage and showcase a mastery over the human voice that is rarely heard.

They've tackled the Phantom of the Opera theme, booming organ and all, and recreated it entirely a cappella with hip-hop undertones. They've made sound effects with only their mouths that sound so convincing, anyone listening and not watching may think they're real.

As such, audiences at the UCPAC should be prepared for: original a cappella renditions of songs of all genres and time periods, arranged by VoicePlay themselves, melodic and complex harmonies, percussion that isn't made by actual drums (no matter how much it may sound like it) and comedic on-stage antics utilizing the voice's ability to mimic every day sounds. This is a show fit for ages 1-100.

No one would ever guess that this five piece a cappella group, who appeared on television's The Sing-Off on NBC and currently have YouTube videos racking up over one million views, began as an ordinary barbershop quintet. The talented members of the band, which is based in Orlando, Florida, are: Earl Elkins, Jr., Layne Stein, Eliezer "Eli" Jacobson, Tony Wakim and Geoff Castellucci. Together, their voices can cover nearly 5.5 octaves. All five members have previous experience in music, whether it be playing instruments, writing songs or even performing in the Disney parks.

Tickets for VoicePlay range from $20 to $40 and can be purchased by calling (732) 499-8226, by visiting ucpac.org or by stopping by the box office in person. Box office hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11 AM- 5 PM, with extended hours of 11 AM to 8 PM on Thursdays. The Union County Performing Arts Center Main Stage is located in downtown Rahway at 1601 Irving Street and is easily accessible to major roads and public transportation.
