The runaway sleeper hit of this year's Metropolitan Opera season comes to Peterborough, New Hampshire this Saturday, January 16th at 1:00pm. The Met Live's production of Bizet's Les Pêcheurs de Perles ("The Pearl Fishers") will be shown LIVE from New York on the Players' big hi-def digital screen.

Bizet's gorgeous opera of lust and longing set in the Far East returns to the Met stage for the first time in 100 years. Soprano Diana Damrau stars as Leïla, the beautiful Hindu priestess pursued by rival pearl divers competing for her hand. Her suitors are tenor Matthew Polenzani and baritone Mariusz Kwiecien, who sing the lilting duet "Au fond du temple saint," which opera fans know and adore. Director Penny Woolcock explores the timeless themes of pure love, betrayal, and vengeance in a production that vividly creates an undersea world on the stage of the Met.

The Peterborough Players' Arts on Screen series is presented in stunning NEC high definition digital projection and incomparable Dolby Surround Sound. The Met Live series is presented live from New York City's Lincoln Center. Met Live audiences also receive extras: insider interviews plus live behind-the-scenes video of the production.

Met Live tickets are $25 each. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 603-924-7585 or online at PlayersTix.com. Students (with proper ID) can purchase tickets (at the box office) for $20. The Players accepts MasterCard, Visa or American Express.
