Now through June 21, 2015, Nashville Repertory Theatre is accepting applications for playwrights for the 2015-16 Ingram New Works Project.

The Ingram New Works Project gives playwrights an opportunity to develop new theatre works while in residency at Nashville Rep. Each year, the Project selects a Fellow and three Lab playwrights who all work together with Nashville Rep's Playwright in Residence to develop their new works. Past Fellows have included David Auburn (Proof, The Columnist), Stephen Dietz (Lonely Planet, Rancho Mirage), Theresa Rebeck (Bad Dates, Fever), Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife, Posterity) and Donald Margulies (Dinner with Friends, The Country House).

When asked about Nashville Rep's program, past Ingram New Works Fellow Doug Wright said, "Many theaters offer lip service to the fostering of new work, but Nashville Rep makes it a core mission through this program. In a climate that forces many young writers to seek a safe harbor in film and television, the Ingram New Works Project makes an enduring case for the viability of theater and the nurturing of new voices. The Project makes an invaluable contribution to our forever-imperiled national literature."

The Ingram New Works Lab is an artistic home for emerging playwrights to share and develop new work, hone craft, receive direction, and springboard themselves into the next phase of their writing career, providing a fertile environment for the emergence of great new plays. The Lab is a generative residency in which selected playwrights will create a new work for the theatre. Nashville Rep will serve and support selected playwrights as they work to develop their play from the idea stage to a muscular full draft.

Recent PEN Literary Award Winner and past Ingram New Works Lab Playwright Jennifer Blackmer noted, "I've gotten more accomplished as a playwright in my six months with Nashville Rep than I ever have before. Period."
