The Grove Theatre announces the opening of You Can't Take It With You on Friday, October 17th at 7:29 pm and running on weekends through November 2nd.

Conservative versus liberal, traditional family values versus ... whatever those with "traditional" family values consider "non-traditional." Add to this the element of two young lovers from families that don't get along, and you have the makings for great drama. You Can't Take It With You, which won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for drama, concerns the fun-loving, life affirming, happy madness of the Sycamore family and their run-in with the straight-laced world of their potential future in-laws. Alice Sycamore must introduce her fiancé's straight-laced family to her rather more eccentric family. When the wildly different families meet, the worlds of the wealthy, uptight Kirbys and the off-kilter Sycamores collide. At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder.

You Can't Take It With You was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1937, and has been revived numerous times in numerous mediums, including television and a well-known 1938 film starring James Stewart and directed by Frank Capra. Directed by Gregory Cohen, this show that has been a perennial favorite for more than 70 years is not to be missed.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:29 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.
