Continuing an exciting and thought-provoking second season, Ophelia's Jump Productions will open THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR and MACBETH. The productions, directed respectively by Founding Artistic Director, Beatrice Casagran and Associate Artistic Director Kevin Slay, will run July 17-27, 2014 at The Sontag Greek Theater in Claremont, in cooperation with The Pomona College Department of Theatre and Dance. Tickets are available at opheliasjump.org, or by calling 909-624-1464.

An hilarious, tongue-in-cheek comedy balances a cutthroat tale of corruptive power as these two Shakespearian plays are presented at Pomona College's beautiful Sontag Greek amphitheater originally built in 1910 and renovated in 1997. The productions will be performed in repertory, alternating each night with the same cast. Set in the late 1960's, Shakespeare's works are given a fresh, colorful perspective.

About THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR

Two married women (and their money) are pursued by the rotund and rambunctious Falstaff. But the ladies see right through his plots, and form a few of their own. Mischief and hysteria follow, with lovers and lechers chasing after what they truly desire.

About MACBETH

Macbeth is spurred by a visit from three sinister but seductive women, who hail him as the highest ruler in the country, a title he knows he does not hold-yet. Shamelessly pressed by his ambitious wife, Macbeth leaves a bloody path in his wake as he charges for the throne, leaving the question asked: what, or who, is worth the price of power?

Tragedy and comedy blend under the stars with Ophelia's Jump this summer, celebrating one of the greatest playwrights in the English-speaking canon in a whole new light. We invite you to bring your own picnic to enjoy under the stars. Come a few hours early for a special event on Saturdays & Sundays, featuring local artisans and entertainment.
