NOCTURNE by Adam Rapp to Begin Performances 1/31 at The Other Space

Gregory Mayo and Irma Productions have announced their production of Nocturne by Adam Rapp, featuring George Regout and directed by Justin Ross. Previews begin on January 31 and opening is set for Saturday, February 8 at 8pm. Nocturne will play a limited engagement through March 9 at The Other Space @ The Actors Company in West Hollywood.

"Fifteen years ago I killed my sister." So begins Adam Rapp's highly acclaimed play in which a 32-year-old former piano prodigy recounts the tragic accident that tore his family apart. With a keen eye for human relationships and a deft ear for language, Rapp explores the aftershock of this unimaginable event. The play is at once a devastating and elegant portrait of grief and redemption, a gripping dissection of the American dream. Nocturne was awarded Boston's Elliot Norton Award for Best New Script as well as Best New Play by the Independent Reviewers of New England. It was chosen as one of the 10 Best Plays of 2000-2001 by the annual Chronicle of U.S. Theatre. Of the original off-Broadway production, Michael Kuchwara of the Associated Press said, "A startling, unnerving work of art that fiercely pushes the boundaries of theatre ... Rapp is an original ... Nocturne will haunt you for a long time."

Adam Rapp's plays have been produced at Victory Gardens in Chicago, the 24th Street Theatre in LA, The Juilliard School, The American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, MA, Berkeley Repertory, NY Theatre Workshop, and the Bush Theatre in London. He is the recipient of the Herbert & Patricia Brodkin Scholarship, a fellowship to the Camargo Foundation in France, two Lincoln Center LeComte du Nouy Awards, the 1999 Princess Grace Award for Playwriting, the Roger L. Stevens Award from the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays, a Suite Residency with Mabou Mines, and the Helen Merrill Award for Emerging Playwrights.
