DA' Right Entertainment to Present A SOLDIER'S PLAY, 2/26-3/1

DA' Right Entertainment celebrates Black History Month with a limited engagement production of "A Soldier's Play". Written by Charles Fuller and directed by Kathy Lindboe, it is currently being produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. Performances will be a guest production at Santa Monica Playhouse from February 26, 2015 through March 1, 2015.

The 1982 Pulitzer Prize and Obie award winning drama "A Soldier's Play", helped launch the careers of some of Hollywood's greatest including Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson. In 1984, the stage play was developed into a feature film becoming the Academy Award nominated "A Soldier's Story".

"A Soldier's Play" Synopsis - At the height of World War II, tensions were brewing overseas as U.S. Armed Forces engaged in a fight for freedom. Yet, at home, many individuals within U.S. Armed Forces were engaged in another fight: the fight for equality. This fight is the backdrop of this timeless piece which delves into the investigation of a murdered officer on a military base in 1944, Louisiana.

Our ensemble cast includes: Ayinde Howell, David Haley, David Lombard, Kyle Jones, Al Spencer, Blake Young-Fountain, Justin Key, Hari Williams, Jeremy Walker, Peter Monro, Brant Rotnem, and John Pleasant.

Kathy Lindboe the director is also writer and producer. Some of her recent work includes feature films "Nonames" starring James Badge Dale, Gillian Jacobs, and Barry Corbin, and "Missed Connections" starring Mickey Sumner and Jon Abrahams. She has directed several stage productions in Minneapolis and New York, most recently working with the NYU Tisch Grad acting students and The Diversity Players of Harlem. In 2012, she co-founded the company HomeSweet Films where she has several projects in development. She is a former member of The Greenpoint Writers Group in Brooklyn and a current and original member of the film group JFS (Just f-ing Shoot) in Los Angeles

Performances are scheduled for February 26th at 8PM, February 27th at 8PM, February 28th at 3PM with a second show at 8PM, and March 1st with a show at 3PM.
