The Burger Palace Boys and the Pink Ladies take you for a joyride back to 1959 in the Cabrillo Music Theatre premiere of the classic rock 'n' roll musical, GREASE. At one time the longest-running Broadway musical in history, GREASE gave birth to two revivals and a beloved movie. Songs include "Summer Lovin'," "We Go Together," "Beauty School Dropout," and "Greased Lightnin'," among many others. Cabrillo audiences will go to the pajama party with Sandy and Rizzo; pile into the trunk and ride to the drive-in movie with Danny, Kenickie and the guys; and dance the "Hand Jive" in the High School Gym. GREASE opens on Friday, April 12th, 2013, and plays until Sunday, April 21st, at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.

Putting of the original magic into Cabrillo Music Theatre's all-new production of GREASE is director Barry Pearl, who toured in the original production of the show, and played "Doody" in the movie. Barry's joined by his cohort Kelly Ward (the movie's "Putzie") who will choreograph. Joined by Southern California favorite David O as Musical Director, the cast of GREASE has been gathered from an audition of over 500 talented performers. The result is a cast of the very best of musical theatre present and future. And joining them all is Adrian Zmed as "Teen Angel," who makes a memorable appearance singing "Beauty School Dropout."
Zmed, a veteran of the original Broadway GREASE and the film, "Grease 2," has enjoyed a long, successful career in film, television and theatre, and has gained several generations of fans with his work in "T.J. Hooker," "Dance Fever," and "Bachelor Party" with Tom Hanks.

"With Barry Pearl and Kelly Ward leading the team, Cabrillo's GREASE will get back to the show's roots," says Lewis Wilkenfeld, Cabrillo Music Theatre's Artistic Director. "The show has been presented in so many different forms and variations that audiences have really missed out on the essence of the show - what made the show so popular to begin with." Continues Wilkenfeld, "I remember seeing the original production on Broadway - before the movie ever existed - and I still remember the energy and the passion of these high-school kids living out their rock n' roll dreams through music and dance. Cabrillo's GREASE will be the one that reminds everyone why they fell in love with these characters and songs."

With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and WarRen Casey, Cabrillo Music Theatre's GREASE, like the movie, contains mature behavior and language and simulated onstage cigarette smoking, and is recommended for pre-teens and up. Combining rousing music and an onstage rockin' band, Cabrillo Music Theatre's GREASE will raise the roof at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. So slick back your hair, grab your pom-poms and let Cabrillo Music Theatre's all-new production of GREASE send you over the moon!
