BWW Previews: Theater League Announces 2014-15 Season

The Theater League and Broadway Across America this week announced the line-up for the 2014-2015 Kansas City Broadway Series. Performed at the Music Hall and described by Entertainment Weekly as "the funniest musical of all time," The Book of Mormon anchors the season.

Not included in the season package is the special engagement of Mamma Mia! at the Music Hall from October 7 to 12, 2014. Abba's timeless song springs to life in this humorously charming tale of friendship and love. The musical has more productions in performance internationally than any other musical making it the World's Number 1 Show.

Straight from television to the Music Hall, comes America's number one game show, The Price is Right Live. This one-night only special engagement takes the stage of the Music Hall on November 15, 2014.

Motown The Musical opens the Theatre League and Broadway Across America season December 9, 2014 at the Music Hall. From his beginning to the height of the music moguls success the story of Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown, comes alive in the record-breaking smash hit. Gordy launched the careers of Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, and Michael Jackson among others. Motown The Musical plays through December 14, 2014.

The first production at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts is the universal tale of fame, fortune, and jazz. The Broadway smash Chicago has received six Tony Awards®, two Olivier Awards®, and a Grammy® features remarkable dancing and smash-hit-songs. Chicago runs from January 20 through 25, 2015 at the Kauffman Center.

The Music Hall welcomes The Book of Mormon from February 24 through March 8, 2015. Winner of Best Musical and eight other Tony Awards® the production is a new Broadway musical by Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez. Parker and Stone created the popular television series South Park and Lopez created Avenue Q. The New York Times, Ben Brantley, described the show as, "the best musical of the century."

At the Kauffman Center from March 24 to 29, 2015 comes the winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards® including Best Musical is Once. Once is the bewitching story of a Dublin street musician and the young woman that becomes enthralled with his love songs. His songs hit a new height, but it becomes evident that their attraction is more complex than everyday romance.

Peter and the Starcatcher wraps up the 2014-15 season for the Theater League and Broadway Across America from May 26 to 31, 2015 at the Kauffman Center. "THE MOST EXHILARATING STORYTELLING ON BROADWAY IN DECADES," according to the New York Times. The prequel to Peter Pan is a hysterical musical trek through the Neverland that won five Tony Awards®. The company of a dozen actors play more than a hundred characters in the play based on the best-selling novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson.
