Kansas City Actors Theatre is pleased to announce that the American Theatre Wing, best known as the creator of the Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards, is awarding the Company with one of the 2015 National Theatre Company grants.

Created by American Theatre Wing to recognize and support the most promising emerging theatre companies, the 2015 grants are being presented to twelve companies from around the country. Companies chosen to receive the grants have articulated a distinctive mission, cultivated an audience, and nurtured a community of artists in ways that strengthen and demonstrate the quality, diversity, and dynamism of American theatre.

"To be recognized nationally for the first time is a great thrill for us. And obviously very gratifying. It's a real vote of confidence that the work we are doing at Kansas City Actors Theatre is unique and important." John Rensenhouse.

More information about the National Theatre Company grants can be found at americantheatrewing.org/program/national-theatre-co-grants.

Kansas City Actors Theatre was established in 2004 by a group of theatre artists and community members. They shared a commitment to empower a collaborative group of artists to make the artistic decisions, rather than a single individual. The theatre's mission is to challenge, enlighten and engage the community with quality classic and modern classic theatre. Its goals are to provide meaningful work for local artists, provide them a living wage, keep them in our community, grow our city's national artistic presence and recognize the audience as an active partner in the creation of quality theatre.
