On March 17, 2011, Music Director Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic performed Takemitsu's Requiem for String Orchestra, in sympathy for the Japanese people. A recording of that performance is now available for download through InstantEncore and other online music stores, with proceeds going to benefit relief efforts for Japan.
