The Texas Rep Theatre Co., Houston's Uptown Classic Theatre, continues its tradition of excellence with it's Ninth season with Larry Shue's comedy classic, The Nerd. Directed in a new production by Texas Repertory Artistic Director Steven Fenley, The Nerd will run 4 performances this weekend through September 22nd.

Willum Cubbert has it all... He has a promising career as an architect, devoted friends and, hopefully, a serious girlfriend. He has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life. But Willum's peaceful life is shattered when Rick arrives unannounced on his doorstep. Rick is a hopeless "nerd"-a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact. Rick stays on and on, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another - until the hysterical surprise ending. A hilarious, laugh-a-minute comedy from the writer of The Foreigner, The Nerd is a rib-tickling way to launch our 9th season.

The Texas Repertory Theatre production of The Nerd features Texas Rep favorites Jefffrey S, Lane, Lyndsay Sweeeney, Lauren Dolk and David Walker, as well as Mike Sims, Estus Cretsinger and, making his Texas Repertory debut as the title character, James Monaghan. Performing in its 9th anniversary season, The Texas Repertory Theatre Co. has become one of Houston's premiere theatrical venues, and continues to offer year-round seasons of plays and musicals to the deserving audiences of NW Houston.
