The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston will be hosting a production of the famous work, The Gondoliers, at the Wortham Theater from July 21st-July 23rd.

The Gondoliers is about the son of the King of Barataria who was arranged to marry the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Plaza-Toro from infancy. However, the son was taken away from his father shortly afterwards in order to protect him from his father's erratic behavior. A gondolier, who had a son of his own, took the young prince in and raised the two boys to live normal lives. They grew into men, each having found the woman they loved and wanted to start a new life with. Although, the time has come for the heir of the Barataria throne to become king. Neither of the men knew who was the real heir to the throne since the gondolier had kept it a secret from them that he took to his grave.

Which man will have to sacrifice his bride in order to fulfill the arranged marriage to the daughter of Plaza-Toro and become the new King of Barataria? Come see our show to find out!
