Banks Brothers Productions will be presenting the satirical black comedy "The Cousin Cleotha War" September 30-Oct 9 2016 @ Midtown Art Center.

Inspired by the legendary battle to win the role of Scarlett O'Hara in the 1939 movie "Gone With the Wind," Vincent Victoria has written a modern day back-lot drama for the internet age.

Imagine Audra McDonald, Beyonce, and Kim Kardashian, all fighting to the death for the same coveted movie role and then picture if you will the trending headlines on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram that the battle would produce.

While the scenario of three performers with completely different styles and talent levels competing for the identical A List movie role may be implausible in the "real" Hollywood; the story line in the psycho-comedy "The Cousin Cleotha War" makes it a definite possibility.

"I want to show the extreme lengths that an actor will go to secure a role in a movie even if they know they are not "right" for the part." says playwright Vincent Victoria.

The Cousin Cleotha War is an ode to Vincent Victoria's love of Classic Movies that feature cat-fighting heroines such as "All About Eve" ,"Stage Door" and "The Women" and combines familiar show business tales of blackmail, the casting couch, and paranoia to advance the plot. In this backlot comedy, three fictional actresses viciously fight for the role of the iconic movie character Cousin Cleotha. The play also has a secondary plot that involves the years long rivalry between two of the actresses; similar to the one between movie legends Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.

Equal parts Shakespearean Tragedy, modern day reality show , and "Sunset Boulevard", "The Cousin Cleotha War" promises to delight and shock its audiences with its very Adult Language and subject matter.

Show-times for "The Cousin Cleotha War" are 8pm September 30, Oct 1st , Oct.7th, and Oct. 8th and 3pm Oct.2nd and Oct 9th @ Midtown Art Center 3414 La Branch. Tickets are $15 for Friday performances and $20 for Sat . and Sunday shows. Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of performance or they will be available starting Sept 1st online at www.banksbrothersproductions.com.
