Alley All New, a major new works initiative at the Alley Theatre, presents a special reading of Evan Zes' solo show Rent Control on Monday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Louisiana Room. The reading is free and advance reservations can be made at alleytheatre.org/alleyallnew or by phone at 713-220-5700.

Zes, the actor currently playing Passepartout in Around the World in 80 Days, portrays a barrage of colorful, international personalities as he shares the wild yet true story of his New York apartment. With his M.F.A. diploma from Harvard University in hand and no job in sight, he fell backwards into a rent-controlled apartment and turned it into a goldmine by subletting it as he worked all over the country. But when the situation seems too good to be true and the police are called, how long can it last?

"We have been talking about Alley All New as a year-round initiative so I am thrilled to present this new play reading the month after our inaugural Alley All New Festival. I'm pleased that we can support Evan Zes as a playwright while he is working with us as an actor. His new solo show is delightful and also provides a great window into the life of an actor," says Elizabeth Frankel, Director of New Work.

The reading of Rent Control on March 28 has a run time of 75 minutes and will be followed by a post-performance conversation with Evan Zes, led by Elizabeth Frankel. Recommended for mature audiences.

Evan Zes makes his Alley Theatre Debut as Passepartout in Mark Brown's Around the World in 80 Days, currently playing in the Hubbard Theatre through April 3.
