Gulfshore Playhouse is elated to announce Pay-What-You-Can previews for several of their productions for the 2013-2014 Season. For as little as $1.00, theatre-goers can experience world-class live theatrical productions right downtown.

"I believe that theatre is meant for the masses. Enjoying art of any kind connects us once again with our humanity, our creativity and the divine inside all of us. This should not only be reserved for those of us with enough money to purchase a full-price ticket. As a not-for-profit organization, this is yet another way to reach out and serve all sectors of our community," states Kristen Coury, Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Gulfshore Playhouse.

Tickets for all Pay-What-You-Can previews are available for purchase in-person only at the Norris Center, the home of Gulfshore Playhouse, one hour before the preview performance. There is a $1.00 minimum donation for each ticket, payable by cash, check, or credit card. All seats for Pay-What-You-Can previews are general admission and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

"I am delighted to offer Naples audiences the opportunity to see excellent theatre at even more affordable prices," states Kristen Coury, Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Gulfshore Playhouse.

Gulfshore Playhouse's Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) previews will be presented for the following productions throughout the 2013-2014 Season: Venus in Fur on Wednesday, October 2nd at 8:00pm; Something Intangible on Tuesday, October 29th at 8:00pm; The God Game, on Wednesday, January 15th at 8:00pm (followed by a talkback with the playwright, Suzanne Bradbeer); and Ken Ludwig's The Game's Afoot on Wednesday, February 19th at 8:00pm.

Venus in Fur by David Ives is the Tony-nominated play that the New York Times called "a suspense-filled sex comedy." Venus in Fur upends the traditional power relationship between director and actress and man and woman in this scintillating, fascinating, and thought-provoking "play within a play" that investigates the layers of love, lust, power and gender politics with humor, intensity and good kinky fun.

Something Intangible by Bruce Graham is set among the glitz and glamour of 1940's Hollywood, this lush new award-winning drama goes inside the movie studio and inside the lives of two brothers. One is the creative genius responsible for bringing the first animated film to the screen, and the other is his loyal brother, who struggles to keep the money coming in to fund the next big dream which will ultimately change the industry forever: a feature-length animated film set to classical music. With deft wit and endearing humanity, Something Intangible explores the ties that bind, artistic inspiration, and that intangible something that can elevate the mundane to the sublime.

World Premiere drama The God Game by Suzanne Bradbeer follows Tom, a Virginia Senator and a rising star in the Republican Party. He's asked to join the ticket as the Vice-Presidential candidate. The only catch: he needs to sound "more Christian" on the campaign trail. Will he sacrifice his firmly held belief that faith and religion are private matters or give up an opportunity to govern the most influential country in the world? Privacy, politics, and public personas take center stage in this World Premiere Drama by a hot new American playwright.

From the playwright who brought us The Fox on the Fairway, Ken Ludwig's The Game's Afoot will be on the Gulfshore Playhouse stage for the final pay-what-you-can preview of the 2013-2014 season. This brand new hilarious play from one of the masters of comedy brings murder, mystery, mayhem and madcap adventure to our stage. Broadway superstar William Gillette, famous the world over for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, has invited fellow cast members to his opulent home for a dinner party. But when one of the guests winds up dead, Gillette will have to summon every ounce of Sherlock he can to solve the mystery. This play will keep you laughing and trying to figure out whodunit until the final bow.

Gulfshore Playhouse is passionately devoted to creating high-quality professional theatre at affordable prices and diverse educational opportunities for our region. Producing a full season of plays ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary plays and world premieres, Gulfshore Playhouse is committed to surpassing the standards of every valued patron while continuing to contribute to the vibrant arts and culture scene in Naples, Florida.
