Curtain Call Productions is blurring the lines between comedy and tragedy in its poignant and darkly comedy Assassins at their new home in Flagler Place in Historic Downtown Stuart. Assassins, a tony-award winning musical that explores the personalities and the motives behind some of America's most infamous characters, will be Curtain Call's biggest undertaking of the season with an ensemble cast of 16.

"Assassins is completely representative of everything we strive for in this company," says Artistic Director Jake Sanders, who is directing the piece. "The show is smart, funny, thought-provoking and laced with reality in the style of truly exceptional theatre." Other theatres may worry about the subject matter or the marketability of a show about presidential Assassins, but for the staff at Curtain Call, this is a true passion project. "I know the Treasure Coast is the right market for this show- to see the way they've embraced this unique brand of daringly intelligent theatre, we know that Assassins is the perfect show to recapture the same emotional high points we hit with last season's Next to Normal."

With an incredible 7-piece orchestra, Assassins marks Curtain Call's first foray into the complicated world of Stephen Sondheim. "The intricacies in this music are beautiful, but rehearsing a 30 second bit can take hours with all the different parts", says Musical Director Mariano Garcia IV, whose background in opera has helped prepare him for the music of Broadway's most complex composer. "The music is smart. It complements the lyrics and the sentiments of the characters like composition really should."

Assassins has an ensemble cast led by Xander James as the picture perfect Balladeer, later turned assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and Equity Actor Casey Huneycutt as the first successful presidential assassin John Wilkes Booth. The cast also includes Equity Actor Christopher Cromer as the deranged Charles Guiteau, Brian Pecci as Nixon's would-be assassin Sam Byck, Samantha Streich as the Manson family member Squeaky Fromme, Melissa Brodzkinski as housewife turned murderess Sara Jane Moore, Mariano Garcia IV as Guiseppe Zangara, James Channing as anarchist immigrant Leon Czolgosz, Kyle Weber as the Jodie Foster obsessed John Hinckley, Hadiyyah Noelle Smiith as the Proprietor- an enticing figure who lures the assassins to compete for "their prize", with Rafael Gomez, Michelle Lucey, Sandi Hellstrom, Michael Harrison, Eric Schuett, Ashley Carroll and Arlette Eulo playing various historical characters and rounding out the ensemble.

Assassins marks Curtain Call's 2nd show as the resident theatre company of the new Flagler Place in Historic Downtown Stuart. "Flagler Place is the perfect venue for our kind of theatre," says Associate Artistic Director Christopher Cromer, who also plays Charles Guiteau. "It's intimate, there's not a seat in the space that's more then 35 feet from the stage. It really allows us to emerge the audience in the show."

Assassins runs February 13th-16th at Flagler Place in Historic Downtown Stuart with performancesThursday, Friday and Saturday at 8PM and Saturday and Sunday at 2PM at 201 SW Flagler Avenue, Stuart, FL-34994 with a cocktail hour featuring live music starting at 7PM for evening performances and 1PM for matinees. The show runs approximately one hour and forty-five minutes without an intermission.
