The Williamston Theatre has been awarded a grant from the Dramatists Guild Fund (DGF). The grant will support two upcoming World Premieres that are being mounted as a part of the 2015-2016 Season, the Theatre's landmark tenth season. The productions supported by this funding are The Decade Dance by Joseph Zettelmaier, with performances March 31 - May 1, 2016, and Summer Retreat by Annie Martin, with performances from July 14 - August 21, 2016. Both Mr. Zettelmaier and Ms. Martin are Michigan playwrights whose work has been produced at Theatres throughout Michigan and across the country.

"Producing new plays, particularly those from artists in the American Midwest, has been one of the core goals of Williamston Theatre since our inception a decade ago," says Williamston Theatre Artistic Director Tony Caselli. "The Dramatists Guild is a major force in the development of new theatre, and we're honored to have their support. "

The Dramatists Guild Fund is the public charity arm of the Dramatists Guild of America. Its mission is to aid and nurture writers for the theater; to fund non-profit theaters producing contemporary American works; and to heighten awareness, appreciation, and support of theater across the country. The DGF has been a resource to dramatists and non-profit theaters for more than fifty years. Based in New York, the Dramatists Guild of America has a long history of service to playwrights, lyricists, librettists and composers for the theater. Since its inception, the Dramatists Guild membership has included a broad cross-section of writers for the American stage, including legendary talents whose names are synonymous with Broadway, Off-Broadway and American Theater. Each year the Dramatists Guild Fund provides grants to nonprofit theaters and theatrical institutions across the country that develop and/or produce contemporary American plays and musicals in support of the American writer. The Williamston Theatre's next production is Meghan Kennedy's Too Much, Too Much, Too Many, in performance January 28 - February 28, 2016. Additional information is available on the Theatre's website at www.williamstontheatre.org or by calling (517) 655-7469.
