Who Wants Cake? is thrilled to announce the inaugural presentation of The Mollies, their own awards ceremony celebrating the best performances and events at The Ringwald Theatre. The event will also serve as a fundraiser to help Who Wants Cake? raise money to supplement the remainder of their 2009-2010 season at the theatre.

The Mollies will represent the offbeat persona of Who Wants Cake? with such categories as Best On Stage Death, Best Performance in a Mr. Peanut Costume, and Best OMG Moment.

Local actress and comedienne extraordinaire Jaime Moyer will serve as mistress of ceremonies for the evening.

The event will be held at 7PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at The Ringwald Theatre, 22742 Woodward Avenue, Ferndale, MI, 48220. Food will be provided by Dino's Lounge. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted.

Joe Bailey, Artistic Director of Who Wants Cake? and The Ringwald Theatre, said, "We are very happy to be able to make our first fundraising event something truly enjoyable for everyone. It's our way of saying ‘Thank you' to everyone who has or will offer us support in our endeavor to continue offering quality, meaningful (yet fun!) theatre. We are honored and ecstatic to have Jaime Moyer on board as host. What more could anyone ask for? Good food, great entertainment...what are you waiting for? Come on by!"

Who Wants Cake? is hoping to raise enough funds to help offset costs for its upcoming season which includes: Evil Dead: The Musical, The SantaLand Diaries, A Little Work, The Busy World is Hushed, Hurlyburly, and Die! Mommie! Die!.

Who Wants Cake? opened the doors to their resident home, The Ringwald, in May 2007 with Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy. Quickly, The Ringwald became a mainstay of Detroit's theatre community. Their first season offered up slice after slice of successful shows including Southern Baptist Sissies, Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical, Bug, The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode, The Bad Seed, and Killer Joe. Who Wants Cake? was named the 2008 Best Theatre Group in Channel 4's Vote 4 The Best contest.
