Meadow Brook Theatre is asking community members to share their WWII era stories at www.mbtheatre.com. The invitation is part of MBT's campaign to raise funds for the theatre and demonstrate the importance of powerful stories on stage and within the local community.

The campaign will run throughout the Michigan Premiere of the powerful new musical, ATOMIC which comes to Meadow Brook February 10 - March 6. Created by Danny Ginges, with book and lyrics by Danny Ginges and music and lyrics by Philip Foxman, ATOMIC blasts open the doors of The Manhattan Project.

"This show tells the incredibly powerful story of the individuals tasked with creating the world's first atomic bomb," said Artistic Director Travis Walter. "Even 70 years later, there is not a lot of discussion about the personal impact this project had on these scientists. Most were extremely young, facing unbelievable pressure and -- because the project was classified - forced to struggle with complex ethical questions without the support of family or friends."

"We want to explore this amazing tale on our stage, and also honor the experiences and stories of our audience members," said Walter. "World War II impacted the lives of people in every corner of the world; there are millions of stories out there and they're all important. Our season allows us to tell one of those stories on stage, and this campaign allows us to reach even further."

The mission of Meadow Brook Theatre, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary Season in 2015-2016, is to make audiences smile, laugh and cry and to enrich the cultural community in Southeast Michigan. The "Share Your Story" Campaign seeks to raise funds for a show that strongly supports the mission of the theatre, but may not have the box office impact of a comedy, or a more familiar musical.

The theatre is an independent non-profit organization and Michigan's largest professional producing theatre. The theatre relies on financial support from individuals, grant funding and corporate donations to feature Michigan, National and World Premiers. ATOMIC has received critical acclaim off-Broadway.

Meadow Brook Theatre is a nonprofit, cultural institution located on the campus of Oakland University at 207 Wilson Hall, Rochester, MI 48309. MBT has been serving southeast Michigan for 50 years.
