Meadow Brook Theatre to Present THE EXPLORERS CLUB, 10/7-11/1

It's London, 1879 and the prestigious Explorers Club is in crisis: their acting president wants to admit a woman, and their bartender is terrible. True, this female candidate is brilliant, beautiful, and has discovered a legendary Lost City, but letting a woman in could shake the very foundation of the British Empire, and how do you make such a decision without a decent drink? Grab your safety goggles for some very mad science involving deadly cobras, irate Irishmen and the occasional airship.

The Explorers Club, a Michigan Premiere by Legally Blonde The Musical Composer & Lyricist, Nell Benjamin, plays at Meadow Brook Theatre on the campus of Oakland University from October 7 through November 1. There will be a special Opening Night Afterglow sponsored by Lellis of Auburn Hills and Manny's Liquor on October 10 at 6:00 PM.

"This show is packed with laughs," said Travis Walter, Meadow Brook Theatre Artistic Director. "Every scene is funnier than the last! If you like comedy, this is one you really don't want to miss."

Returning to the MBT stage in the cast of "The Explorers Club" are MBT audience's favorites Rusty Mewha as Lucius Fretway, Phil Powers as Professor Cope, Chip DuFord as Professor Walling, Hugh Maguire at Professor Sloane, Lucas Wells as Luigi, Wayne David Parker as Harry Percy, Thomas D. Mahard as Sir Bernard Humphries, Craig Bentley as Beebe and Cheryl Turski as Phyllida Spotte-Hume and Countess Glamorgan.

The Explorers Club is directed by Travis W. Walter. Terry Carpenter is the stage manager, with set design by Kristen Gribbin, costumes by Liz Goodall, lighting by Reid G. Johnson and sound by Mike Duncan.
