Local Playwright Debbie Lannen Wins 'Audience Favorite' Award at Short Play Lab in NYC

Local Metro Detroit Playwright Debbie Lannen is making her name in The Big Apple. On Sat. Sept. 28 her play, Priscilla the Precious made it premiere at John Chatterton's Short Play Lab at the Roy Arias Theatre on 43rd Street. It was one of 11 plays selected to be presented in the program. At the Saturday performance ,Priscilla the Precious accumulated the most votes for audience favorite. Following the Sunday afternoon performance votes were tallied it was confirmed as the winner.

Cast members included: Siena Hassett as Priscilla the Precious and Gabe Fuentes as Jason, the Caliente Cruise line employee. Both actors were making their off off Broadway debut.

This past summer, Debbie Lannen's A Voice in My Head premiered at the Midtown InterNational Theatre Festival. Ms. Lannen has other projects, including a play entitled "Sorry" concerning the ever growing problem of bullying. She is researching a location to premiere this work.
