Dr. Leana Wen to Speak at the Wharton Center in 'World View Lecture Series', 3/24

Dr. Leana Wen, co-author of the new book, When Doctors Don't Listen: How to Avoid Misdiagnoses and Unnecessary Tests, is an emergency room physician and patient advocate. She has also been a clinical fellow at Harvard Medical School and a Rhodes Scholar. Inspired by her own childhood illness and then her mother's long battle with cancer, Dr. Wen is passionate about guiding patients to advocate for better care. On Monday, March 24, she arrives at Wharton Center as the next speaker in the World View Lecture Series.

A college graduate at the age of 18, Dr. Wen has been a fellow and consultant to the World Health Organization, the Brookings Institution, Eurasia Group, and China Medical Board. She has had a fascinating and illustrious career to date, and has been featured in TIME, Newsweek, The Washington Post and The New York Times for her advocacy and research.

An active researcher in ways to improve patient-physician communication, Dr. Wen has received grant support from the National Institutes of Health, the Beckman Foundation, the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She has been published in numerous scientific publications, including the Lancet, JAMA, and Annals of Emergency Medicine, and has served as a regular columnist for news outlets including The New Physician, Common Sense, and Medscape.com.
