2013 SiriusXM Hockeytown Winter Festival Set for Comerica Park, 12/16-24

Olympia Entertainment revealed today activities for the 2013 SiriusXM Hockeytown Winter Festival with two weeks of events taking place on the ice rink inside Comerica Park Dec.16-24.

Public open skates inside Comerica Park will allow fans of all ages to have the once-in-a-lifetime thrill of skating on the same ice as their Red Wings and Maple Leafs Alumni hockey heroes.

Open Skate Dates & Times:
· Tuesday, Dec. 17 8-8:50a.m., 9:30-10:20a.m., 11-11:50a.m., 12:30-1:20p.m.
· Friday, Dec.20 9-9:50a.m., 10:30-11:20a.m.
· Tuesday, Dec.24 8-8:50a.m., 9:30-10:20a.m., 11-11:50a.m., 12:30-1:20p.m., 2-2:50p.m.

Public open skate events are available for purchase in 50-minute increments. Prices are $25/adult, $15/kids 14 & under and $5/non-skater. Kids 2 & under are free. Fans can bring their own skates or rent skates for $10.

Public open skate tickets go on sale this Monday, Dec.9 at 10 a.m. at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office, at www.DetroitRedWings.com/openskate, www.Ticketmaster.com or by calling 313-471-7575. Due to on-ice capacity limitations, these sessions are expected to sell out.

Free Detroit Red Wings Open Practice
The Detroit Red Wings will a practice in Comerica Park at Noon on Wednesday, Dec. 18 to become acclimated to the outdoor conditions they will face when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium on Jan.1. This practice session is open to the public and free of charge.

The two-week period of excitement on the Comerica Park ice includes an extensive list of hockey-related activities, including:
· Sled Hockey on Dec.16
· High School Hockey on Dec.16, 18-19
· Men's League Hockey on Dec.17
· USA Adult Hockey on Dec.21
· Youth Hockey games on Dec.21-23
· USA Hockey Clinic on Dec. 23.

These on-ice activities lead up to the fun-filled final five days of the 2013 SiriusXM Hockeytown Winter Festival on Dec. 27-31 which includes the 122,000-square-foot Coke Zero Fan Zone with interactive activities, live entertainment, food, photo/autograph opportunities and hockey-themed exhibits taking place outside of Comerica Park and an exciting schedule of hockey inside the stadium including the 49th annual Great Lakes Invitational college hockey tournament Dec. 27-28; Ontario Hockey League and American Hockey League games Dec. 29-30; and the finale: a doubleheader with the Red Wings Alumni taking on the Maple Leafs Alumni on Dec. 31.
