On opening night, March 5th, of Artes de la Rosa's production of BIG FISH: THE MUSICAL 12 CHAIRS version, the production team, cast, and crew helped former Artes de la Rosa actor, Jonathan Flippo propose to his girlfriend, Erin Hardy who is also an Artes alum. Utilizing the 13-member cast of BIG FISH as back up, Jonathan, last seen in Man of La Mancha, sang "Come What May" from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Scroll down for photos and video of the big proposal!

The actors met playing opposite each other in Artes de la Rosa's Twelfth Night A Musical Comedy Carnival in 2015. Both Erin, who was starring as Viola, and Jonathan who was staring as "Orsino", were both making their Artes de la Rosa debuts. They went on to take the stage together again in Man of La Mancha, again at Artes de la Rosa.

Jonathan approached Artistic Director Adam Adolfo with the idea of wanting to propose to Erin on the Rose Marine Theater stage in a big way, and BIG FISH's opening night seemed most appropriate. On the evening of the proposal, Adolfo took to the stage congratulating the 12 ADLR debuts in the cast and asked any former actor to stand and receive applause. In the following the moment, Adolfo brought Mr. Flippo on to the stage for his song and proposal. Through laughter and tears, Ms. Hardy said yes!

BIG FISH: THE MUSICAL 12 CHAIRS is the new, intimate version of the Broadway musical featuring music and lyrics by Tony nominee Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family, The Wild Party) and a new book by esteemed screenwriter John August (Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, BIG FISH centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest... and then some! Edward's incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him - most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father's epic tales. Overflowing with heart, humor and spectacular stagecraft, BIG FISH is an extraordinary new Broadway musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre -- for an experience that's richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself.
