Bring the family for a free, outdoor day of fun! People's United Bank presents Shakespeare on the Green & Green Expo at The Ridgefield Playhouse! This much loved community event brings in more than 500 attendees each year and is a "thank you" to the community. This year's event will take place on Saturday, August 12, the "Green Expo" runs from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. with Shakespeare's "Love's Labour's Lost," produced and performed by Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, being performed under the tent at 2 p.m.

Without the generous support of business partners such as People's United Bank, in addition to Trish Breede, Ann and Steve Carlson, Pitney Bowes, Barts Tree Service, and Keller Williams it would not be possible to have families experience this amazing event for free!

Additional partners making this year's event possible are community sponsors PepsiCo, Your Best Health, Two Roads Brewing Company, Stephanie Weiss Personal Training, All Seasons Party and Tent Rentals, Putnam Service Dogs, Nantucket Spider, LuLaRoe Pop-up Boutique, Town of Ridgefield Organics Program, Flower Girl Florist, Hearst Media Services, Ridgefield Liquor Shop, Whole Foods Market, Kane Technology Solutions, SERVPRO of Danbury / Ridgefield, DotDotSmileJulieRobison, A2 Land Consulting, LLC, and Eversource/Energize Connecticut.

People's United Bank, the largest independent bank based in New England, is this year's sponsor for the event. "We are proud to help support this community event" said Laila Khouri, Vice President and Senior Marketing Manager. "For People's United Bank, it's a way for us to give back to the community, clients and customers as a thank you for their support. The Ridgefield Playhouse has a great reputation and we're excited to be a part of an event that draws from all areas of Connecticut and beyond. We recognize the hard work of many area non-profits. Wherever we see a need, we are there to help - it's what we do."

"Love's Labour's Lost" is a family-friendly comedy produced and performed by Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. It's one of Shakespeare's earliest comedies, believed to have been written in the mid-1590s for a performance at the Inns of Court before Queen Elizabeth I. It follows the King of Navarre. The King and his lords have sworn off the pleasures of life to pursue their studies, but can their oaths hold up when a princess and her ladies come to town? Men and women test their own constitutions in this hilarious Shakespearean comedy that forces gentlemen in love to keep love - and food, and sleep - at arms' length.

Tickets for Shakespeare on the Green and Green Expo are free but must be reserved by calling The Ridgefield Playhouse box office at 203-438-5795, with a limit of 6 tickets per family on a first come first served basis. Tickets will be held at the box office until 1 p.m. the day of the show. For more information, visit ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
