The SRO Theatre Company in Association with The King Arts Complex present an American classic, A Raisin in the Sun, written by Lorraine Hansberry . The show runs June 5 - 15, 2014, at the Shedd Theatre in the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215.

Directed by Alan Bomar Jones (Dayton, OH), the play, which received a Best American Play award in 1959 from the New York Drama Critics' Circle, centers on a struggling African-American family, and their determination to live a better life in the face of poverty and racism. When a sizeable insurance check arrives, the family's hopes and dreams are challenged.

Cast includes Wilma Hatton (Lena Younger - "Mama"), Christopher Austin (Walter Lee Younger), Simone Hutchings (Beneatha Younger), Justine Appiah-Danquah (Ruth Younger), LaRon Lee Hudson (Joseph Asagai), Correy Craddolph (Travis Younger), Joseph J.D. Parks II (Travis Younger),Sileyemon Ndongo (George Murchison), Ronald E. Nocks (Karl Lindner), Tiarra Marshall (Mrs. Johnson), and David Johnson (BoBo).

Showtimes and dates for A Raisin in the Sun are 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5; 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6; 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7; 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8; 10:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13; 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14; and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 15.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors (55+), $15 for SRO members, $10 for students, and $15 for adults and seniors for the 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 13, performance.
